Dear Members,

Like most of you, June is my favorite month of all for EWI! It is the time that we celebrate the achievements, triumphs and promise of young, talented women, who aspire to greater things.

Our EWISP (Executive Women International Scholarship Program) and ASIST (Adult Student In Scholastic Transition) Scholarship committees selected 4 winners from across North Alabama for a total of $5,000 in scholarship awards!

Our 2015 Scholars are:

  • Briann Rice of Sparkman High School – $2000
  • Keyana Lewis of JO Johnson High School – $1,000
  • Destine Brown of Lee High School – $1,000
  • Shalonda Haygood of Athens State – $1,000

These young women took on life’s challenges like champions, and we are so proud to support their continuing education! Please read their essays (included) and see why they stood out from our competitive field of candidates.

Many thanks to Barbara Zeitler, her scholarship committee, and our volunteer team of judges from the community, who read numerous applications, conducted rigorous interviews, and narrowed the long list of outstanding young women down to these exceptional winners.

This is why we come together to support our own and fellow women’s CAREERS, CONNECTIONS and COMMUNITY.

I am proud that activities like the EWI Scholarship Program scores a home-run on all 3 of these objectives! Please enjoy the photos and essays of our winners inside this issue of Connect.
